Best Time to Visit

Pick the right season to make the most of your Himalayan adventure.

Spring in Himalayas

Spring — Peak Trekking Season

One of the two best windows for trekking. Rhododendron forests blaze in red and pink, skies are mostly clear and temperatures are comfortable. Ideal for most treks in Nepal and Bhutan's festival season (Paro Tshechu).

March ★ April ★ May ★
Blooming rhododendrons on trails
Everest climbing season (Apr–May)
Bhutan festival season
Comfortable temperatures 10–20°C
Summer Monsoon

Summer — Monsoon & Green Valleys

Monsoon rains bring lush greenery but make lower trails slippery. The rain shadow regions (Upper Mustang, Dolpo, Ladakh) offer dry trekking. Budget travellers find lower prices and fewer crowds during this season.

June July August
Great for Upper Mustang & Dolpo
Lush, vivid landscapes
Leeches on low-altitude trails
Cloud cover limits mountain views
Autumn Trekking

Autumn — Crystal Clear Views

The absolute best season for trekking in Nepal. Post-monsoon skies are crystal clear and mountain views are at their sharpest. Trails are busy but the atmosphere is electric — perfect for EBC, Annapurna and Manaslu.

September ★ October ★ November ★
Best mountain visibility of the year
Dashain & Tihar festivals
Ideal for all major trek routes
Book well in advance — peak crowds
Winter Trek

Winter — Quiet Trails & Snow

High passes are closed due to snowfall but lower-altitude treks like Ghorepani and Poon Hill are doable and wonderfully peaceful. Great for Chitwan wildlife safaris and cultural tours of Kathmandu.

December January February
Clear skies with crisp mountain views
Very few tourists — peaceful trails
High passes (Thorong La) closed
Best for Chitwan safari & Pokhara
