Read Full GuidePick the right season to make the most of your Himalayan adventure.
One of the two best windows for trekking. Rhododendron forests blaze in red and pink, skies are mostly clear and temperatures are comfortable. Ideal for most treks in Nepal and Bhutan's festival season (Paro Tshechu).
Monsoon rains bring lush greenery but make lower trails slippery. The rain shadow regions (Upper Mustang, Dolpo, Ladakh) offer dry trekking. Budget travellers find lower prices and fewer crowds during this season.
The absolute best season for trekking in Nepal. Post-monsoon skies are crystal clear and mountain views are at their sharpest. Trails are busy but the atmosphere is electric — perfect for EBC, Annapurna and Manaslu.
High passes are closed due to snowfall but lower-altitude treks like Ghorepani and Poon Hill are doable and wonderfully peaceful. Great for Chitwan wildlife safaris and cultural tours of Kathmandu.
